The percent of people aged 65 and over living in group quarters is highest in the Great Plains region where the aging population makes up a more significant percent of the population. Florida is a notable exception. There is a high percent of aged persons living in Florida, yet the proportion of persons in group quarters is low compared to the Great Plains. This is probably because the ability to pick up and relocate to Florida is restricted by a person’s mobility.
