The percent of people aged 65 and over speaking English "Less than Very Well" is higher in metropolises like New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles where there are high immigrant concentrations. The significant proportions of persons speaking English "Less than Very Well" in Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona are due to larger populations of migrant workers from Central America. In southern Florida, Cuban refugees help to push the rates up.
